Office Inspiration

in J&L Make a House a Home

We’re coming up on the one year anniversary of buying/moving into our house, and we still have ALL THE THINGS to do and change and get situated. The office (which will mostly be mine, since I work from home two days per week) is not high on the priority list, but it is the room I’m most excited to complete someday. I’ve been throwing ideas together for months, so I figured I might as well show you what I’ve come up with so far! I thought about making a mood board, but I’m still missing a few key pieces, like paint and accessories, so for now I’m just gonna show you photos. Once I get a more finished look figured out, I’ll put it a board together!

This rug was the first thing that caught my eye and inspired me to start designing the office in the first place! I love it!!

I have always wanted this light from Ikea, and it will probably be the first thing I purchase, since it’s not very expensive!

Eventually (far down the road, when we have two kids in two separate bedrooms) the office will also have to be the guest bedroom. This daybed from Ikea will be perfect for providing two singles or a double bed, while not taking up much space when not in use.

As for the actual office portion of the room, I haven’t decided yet between the Expedit or Billy shelves for storage.

Right now I’m leaning toward Expedit because there are so many different options. Also, because I fell in love with this desk, by Jen from IHeartOrganizing.

I haven’t spend a whole lot of time thinking about accessories yet, but this quote means a lot to me, so it will definitely be on the wall somewhere! I’ll also have my signed Perks of Being a Wallflower poster, and my Taking Back Sunday poster, both framed and hung.

So if you can put all of that together, you’ll see a bit of my vision for a future office. I’m hoping to get around to this next year, but it will have to wait until after we finish our master closet, and build a fence, so who knows when we’ll actually have the time/money to get it done. Until then, I’ll keep dreaming and scheming, so when we are ready, I’ll know exactly what I want!

Do you have a home office? Send me photos! And any experience with those shelves, or have alternative suggestions?
